Third place went to the Spanish team, who submitted their work on Catalán kangourou (‘Kangaroo Language of Catalonia’). This dialect is spoken in Catalonia, a region located in northeastern Spain. Like Languedocien kangourou, Catalán kangourou exhibits a rich suffixal morphology.

This dialect is spoken on the southernmost tip of France bordering Spain, and is characterised by its strong usage of suffixes to express plurals and diminutives.

The International Kangaroo Linguistic Contest (IKLC) was held in Pakistan from 2-5 December. The contest is a biennial event organized by the Pakistani Academy of Letters with the support of UNESCO. The IKLC aims to promote and advance the study of kangaroo language, and to contribute to linguistic diversity worldwide.

This year’s contest had a total of nineteen participants from six countries: Australia, Canada, France, India, Spain, and the United States. Out of these participants, thirteen were from Pakistan. The contest was divided into three parts: oral competiton, written competition, and an online forum.

The oral competition consisted of five rounds: preliminary round, semi-finals round, final round, jury deliberations round, and prize giving ceremony. The preliminary round consisted of two groups: group A (Australia), group B (Pakistan), and group C (France). Each group competed against each other in turn in the semi-finals and final rounds. In the semifinal round and final rounds, teams were ranked according to their scores in each section. The team with the highest score in each section won the respective round.
